Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Swim Aide at the Menino YMCA to support certified instructors in swim lessons and help prepare equipment for classes. This role operates under supervision of the Aquatics Director and instructor, and emphasizes safety, professionalism, and member engagement.

Ideal candidates are at least 15 years old, with no prior experience required and YASA certification. Flexible shifts may include mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Swim Aide is for 15 years of age to 15 years and 11 months of age.
• No experience necessary.
• YASA (YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistant) Certification

Responsibilities

• Assist aquatics instructors during swim classes.
• Be prepared for class. Have all equipment available and ready prior to swim class. Assist in putting away all equipment after swim classes.
• Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
• Ensure a clean and safe pool environment at all times.
• Engage in active listening with members to build relationships and understand goals.
• Attend mandatory monthly in-service training and association trainings.
• May be required to work one on one with individual students during group classes.
• All other duties as assigned.
