Job summary

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is seeking a friendly Swim Instructor to teach children, promote swimming skills, and reinforce water safety. The Aquatics Department serves around 1,200 students weekly with diverse lessons.

The role involves delivering engaging lessons, creating age-appropriate curricula, and maintaining a positive learning environment. CPR is required; WSI certification is preferred, and prior instruction experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred.
• Previous swim instruction experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create a positive, welcoming, and safe learning environment.
• Experience working with children of varying ages and abilities.
• Strong personal swimming and stroke knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Commitment to regular schedule, on time.
• Teach proper swimming strokes to children (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly).
• Enforce water safety rules and supervise swimmers.
• Design clear lesson plans tailored to different ages and skill levels.
• Evaluate student progress and provide feedback.
• Empathy and patience with swimmers.
