Qualifications

• Must be certified in CPR, AED, Oxygen, and First Aid.
• Must be 16+ years old and able to demonstrate swim instruction.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience teaching swimming or water safety preferred.
• Ability to work with diverse ages and skill levels.

Responsibilities

• Conduct swimming lessons for children, teens, and adults of varying skill levels.
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with YMCA standards and safety protocols.

Whether you’re a lifeguard, a swim instructor, or a little bit of both, you’re going to love working in aquatics at the Y because you’re helping swimmers feel confident and gain experience in the water.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid.
• Must be 16 years of age and show technical ability in swim skill instruction.
• Proficient and demonstration quality swimming skills and safety skills.
• Previous experience teaching swimming or water safety preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse age groups and skill levels
• Knowledge of water safety practices and emergency response procedures
• Reliable, responsible, and punctual with a positive attitude
