Job summary

The Salvation Army in South Bend, IN is seeking a Swim Instructor to supervise and assist swimmers, observe activities, and enforce pool rules. You will support swim lessons, record keeping, and lesson planning while staying rescue-ready for emergencies.

Starting pay is $12.00 per hour with a $1,200 sign-on bonus available for new hires who meet eligibility and training requirements, including WSI certification within 90 days. This role requires some nights and weekends in an aquatic environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively in English with leadership and clients.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Background check required; review of results prior to hire.
• American Red Cross WSI certification required, or obtained within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of participants during lessons and adjust to class needs.
• Instruct swimming lessons for all ages and abilities with structured lesson plans.
• Maintain attendance records and organize lesson cards and plans.
• Assist with general facility maintenance and pool deck upkeep.
• Support various aquatic programs as needed.
• Other duties assigned by management.
