Job summary

YMCA of the Suncoast is seeking a Swimming Instructor for the Greater Ridgecrest Branch to teach all National YMCA swimming programs from Parent-Child to Adult, enabling participants to advance through levels.

Qualified candidates must be 16+ and hold a YMCA Swim Instructor or Red Cross WSI certification at hire, with CPR/First Aid/ AED required on hire and related trainings completed within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and possess a current YMCA Swim Instructor or Red Cross WSI certification upon hire.
• If Red Cross certified, must complete the YMCA Course within 90 days of employment.
• Upon hire, CPR/BLS/AED and First Aid certifications required.
• Must complete required Ys training within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct teaching leadership to each swimming participant in each class of instruction.
• Role model all aspects of SMART pledge.
• Maintain all YMCA aquatic standards for each skill level while instructing.
• Assist in supervision of children in locker room and pool.
• Know all emergency procedures and how to apply them.
• Communicate child progress to parents.
• Keep written lesson plans for substitutes for each day of each class.
• Maintain proper records and progress cards at each session end.
• Conduct yourself professionally with staff and participants.
• Create a nurturing, safe environment; report suspicious activity; keep facility clean and equipment organized.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; perform other duties as assigned.
