Job summary

YMCA of the Suncoast, Greater Ridgecrest Branch, seeks a dedicated Swim Instructor to teach YMCA programs from Parent-Child to Adult, ensuring safe progression of skills. You will lead classes, uphold YMCA standards, and foster a positive learning environment.

The role requires YMCA Swim Instructor or WSI certification, CPR/BLS/AED/First Aid at hire, and completion of orientation trainings within set timelines. Shifts vary; pay ranges $16.00–$16.25 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age and hold YMCA Swim Instructor or WSI certification at hire.
• If Red Cross certified, complete YMCA course within 90 days of employment.
• CPR/First Aid/AED required at hire; complete YMCA trainings as listed.
• Ability to relate to children and adults from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct teaching leadership to swimming participants in each class.
• Model the SMART pledge in all aspects of instruction.
• Maintain YMCA aquatic standards for each skill level during instruction.
• Assist in supervision of children in locker rooms and pool area.
• Know and apply all emergency procedures; keep participants safe.
• Communicate progress of children to parents; keep substitute lesson plans ready.
