Job summary

British Swim School is seeking FUN teachers to deliver the Bay Area's premier swim program. You will teach students of all ages, and we can train you in our unique approach. The role emphasizes safety, fun, and helping children progress, with a year‑round indoor setting and opportunities for advancement.

Pay starts at $18.00/hr, with compensation ranging up to $20.00/hr. Weekend mornings and weekday shifts are available, and you can choose a schedule each month that fits your needs and other

Responsibilities

• Commute reliably to the Walnut Creek and/or Concord pool locations.

Our amazing, mission-based organization is looking for FUN teachers. British Swim School was founded in 1981 and offers the Bay Area’s premier water survival, learn-to-swim, and stroke development program. Our teachers have the opportunity to change someone’s life!

As a swim instructor, you will teach students of all ages in accordance with the British Swim School aquatics program. Even if you are not an expert swim instructor, that’s okay! We can train anyone on how to teach the way we teach, but here is what we do need from you:

• You need to be a “swimmer”. Ideally, you have an understanding of all four strokes and an overall appreciation for the water
• You’ve got to love working with children and seeing them progress
• You need to be upbeat and ready to enjoy having fun at work. Having fun is mandatory!
• This is a year-round indoor position, and we are looking for longer‑term employees.
• Be able to work weekend mornings from 8:45 am-2:00 pm
• Be able to work weekdays from 3:00 pm-8:00 pm
• You need to be able to reliably commute to our pool located in Walnut Creek and/or Concord!

While we teach swimming to people of all ages and abilities, most of our students are preschool and elementary‑aged kids. Our instructors should like working with this age group and be good at making parents feel comfortable. It’s helpful if you have experience with children or in a child‑focused job, but it’s not required if you can show the right attitude. The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.

We also have exciting opportunities with our Customer Service Team, even if you’re not in the pool. These are the people committed to providing the best service in the industry. In these roles, you might talk to parents on the phone or by the pool. Wherever you are, the aim is to make everyone feel like part of the British Swim School Family as we focus on ensuring the “Survival of the Littlest.”
