Job summary

The City of Faribault Park and Recreation seeks a positive, energetic swim instructor to deliver high-quality lessons to residents and visitors. You will create a safe, fun, and educational environment for participants, fostering learning and enjoyment in the pool.

Responsibilities include teaching swimming and water safety, ensuring facility rules are followed, and delivering outstanding customer service to participants and parents.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 15.
• Basic swimming skills and willingness to learn advanced skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills with all ages.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Criminal background check and drug test required.
• Preferred American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification (or eligible for paid course).

Responsibilities

• Instruct participants for both swimming and safety skills in water.
• Provide a fun and educational swim lesson experience for both participants and parents.
• Observe and enforce all rules and regulations of the facility to prevent accidents or emergency situations.
• Educate class participants on the rules of the facility.
• Provide exemplary customer service ensuring the best swim lesson experience for the participants and parents.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including communication skills with students, parents and facility staff.
• Attend all training sessions and any additional staff meetings.
• Complete all appropriate lesson paperwork during shift.
