Job summary

YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne is seeking a part-time swim instructor for the Jorgensen Family YMCA in Fort Wayne, IN to create a safe, encouraging pool environment and to conduct swimming lessons per YMCA guidelines.

Ideal candidates are at least 16 years old, able to demonstrate YMCA-standard instructor skills, and either certified by a YMCA or willing to obtain certification. Flexible weekend hours and community involvement are available.

Responsibilities

The Jorgensen Family YMCA is looking for an energetic, outgoing team player to fill the position of swim instructor to help create a safe and positive atmosphere in and around the pool and conduct swimming instruction in accordance with YUSA guidelines.

• Connect: Build effective, authentic relationships with members, swim participants, and parents.
• Nurture: Ensure a safe and positive environment for the swim lesson participants to succeed in program goals.
• Inspire: Encourage the involvement of all swim participants.

Requirements

Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:

• At least 16 years old.
• Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Certification from the YMCA or other accredited association preferred (i.e., LGI, and YMCA PYAL, etc.) or willing to be certified.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Salary:

Part‑time $12.44-$14.50 hourly

• Saturday 9:00am-12:00pm
