Job summary

YMCA of the North in Minnesota is seeking a Swim Instructor In Training at Emma B. Howe Northtown Family YMCA in Coon Rapids. You will shadow certified instructors, learn swim programming, and complete skills verification while ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for members.

Starting pay is $13.92/hour during training, increasing to $16.50/hour after successful completion. The role offers paid training, a free YMCA membership, a flexible schedule and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16.
• Verification of SI readiness required within 90 days of hire.
• Complete YSL V6: Observe & Communicate, YSL V6: Orientation Principles of Youth.
• Development, YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification within 90 days from date of hire.
• Patience and the ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers.
• Demonstrated ability to swim in shallow and deep water, and tread water (Stage 4 level swimming skill).
• Dedicated to member safety and the mission and philosophy of the YMCA.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist certified swim instructors and learn programming and emergency procedures.
• Know, understand, and consistently communicate policies and procedures for the pool, body of water and whirlpool.
