Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a dedicated Swim Instructor at our Alpharetta location. You will lead swimming lessons, maintain safety, and support participants and families in achieving their goals within a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities include planning, documentation, and collaboration with staff and volunteers, with opportunities to grow within a values-driven nonprofit dedicated to youth and community wellness.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Demonstrate YMCA swim instructor skills.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications required.
• Intro to the Y’s Cause and Culture, Living our Cause & I Hear you. Service with Care e-learning within first 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Instruct swimming lessons per YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans.
• Build positive relationships with volunteers, members, families, and staff.
• Share information on aquatics programs and schedules and refer participants to other programs as needed.
• Maintain records (attendance, progress reports).
• Follow all safety procedures and complete incident/accident reports when necessary.
• Set up and store class equipment; report damaged items.
• Train and supervise class aides as assigned.
