Job summary

Speer YMCA in St. Petersburg, FL is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to lead swim lessons and promote water safety for all ages. You will provide direct instruction, motivation, and safe learning experiences in line with YMCA standards.

Qualifications include being at least 16, available for evenings/weekends, and possessing or pursuing relevant certifications. In-house training is available and a Level 2 background check is required. Position offers hourly pay and YMCA membership perks.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Comfortable working with participants of all ages and skill levels.
• Current certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Swim Instructor training are a plus.
• In-house training is available for qualified candidates.
• Ability to demonstrate proper swim instruction techniques and safely lift equipment.
• Pass a 10-panel urinalysis drug screening.
• Clear a Level 2 background check.

Responsibilities

• Teach swimming and water safety skills to students of varying ages and ability levels from Parent/Child to Adult classes.
• Instruct students in swimming and exercise fundamentals in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Ensure proper technique, appropriate use of equipment, and a safe, engaging learning environment.
