Job summary

Ashland Area Ymca in Ashland, KY is looking for a swim instructor to join our 20 person strong team. The role involves providing safe, engaging swim lessons to children and adults under the direction of the Aquatics Director. You must be reliable, professional, and able to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities include planning weekly lesson time, maintaining safety policies, and coordinating with parents. Lifeguard Certification and a minimum age of 15 are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years old.
• Must complete and hold a current Lifeguard Certification.
• Ability to instruct swimming lessons.
• Knowledge of swimming strokes and teaching levels.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work without supervision.
• Available to work weekends/holidays.
• Must attend all required drills and training assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent, safe instruction as instructed by the Aquatics Director or swim instructor training.
• Plan and effectively organize class time for maximum practice via weekly lesson plans.
• Teach with encouragement and positive reinforcement.
• Provide consistency in instruction by working each assigned period.
• Promote good public relations by talking with parents before and after class.
