Job Description

Old Colony YMCA has brought people together in communities throughout Massachusetts for 130 years and counting! This is a place where people of all ages, genders, religions, cultures, and beliefs can come together to learn from each other, get healthy, and find strength.

We do this through eight full-facility branches, a multi-site child care branch, a branch serving families experiencing homelessness, and a branch operating residential/non-residential programs for adolescents and adults. The YMCA has a $61 million operating budget and approximately 2,000 employees. Our corporate offices are located in Brockton, MA.

We are seeking to employ Swim Instructors at our Brockton, Taunton, Easton, East Bridgewater, Middleboro, and Stoughton branches.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality swim instruction aligned with YMCA Swim Lessons Curriculum.
• Maintain accurate records of participant progress and communicate effectively with swimmers and caregivers about expectations, skills, and next steps.
• Work as part of an aquatics team committed to building confidence, friendships, and skills among participants. Actively recruit and retain aquatics participants.
• Connect members to swim instruction and other YMCA programs, building pathways between them.
• Attend mandatory monthly in-services and staff meetings.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Pass a CORI check.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required or willing to obtain.

Additional Requirements

• Willing to complete a 30-hour training course within 6 months.
• YMCA Swim Certification and/or WSI preferred or willing to obtain.
• Must acquire YMCA Swim Certification within 6 months.
• Ability to perform all physical tasks required for teaching aquatic lessons.
• Complete program-specific and employee orientation training by the specified timeline.
