Job description

Swim Instructor Position at British Swim School

Swim Instructors at British Swim School teach lessons to children and adults to become safe and happy swimmers, regardless of age or ability. The renowned British Swim School teaching curriculum ensures that each student in our program learns water survival skills and progresses to propulsion and stroke development in a fun and gentle environment. We have multiple locations in the Salt Lake area: South Jordan, Sandy, and West Valley City!

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Report to and communicate directly with Aquatics Manager
2. Conduct classes in a fun and gentle environment, following current teaching methods, policies, and safety and emergency procedures as detailed in the British Swim School training manual or directed by the Aquatics Manager
3. Cross-train as Deck Ambassadors to help represent and be the greeters and friendly face of our program. Customer service skills and a desire to work with people are a must!
4. Attend staff meetings and ongoing training/coaching
5. Part-time position with afternoon/evening shifts on weekdays and morning or afternoon shifts on weekends
6. Be correctly dressed in British Swim School uniform and prepared poolside at least 30 minutes before the start of your first lesson
7. Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and stand in the water for up to 4 consecutive hours
8. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Aquatics Manager / Owner

Minimum Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Enthusiastic, energetic personality with strong relationship and customer service skills
3. LOVES working with kids!
4. Comfortable in and around the water. Strong swimming skills are a plus but can be taught and developed!
5. Ability to complete British Swim School Swim Instructor training and testing
6. Available to work across two or more of our Salt Lake area locations (Sandy, South Jordan, West Valley)

Preferred Experience:

1. Experience working with children
2. Swimming experience: 1-2 years but not required!
3. Customer service experience: 1+ year preferred
4. Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification(s) preferred (can be obtained post-hire)
