Job summary

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore is seeking enthusiastic Swim Instructors to provide high-quality swim lessons for all ages. Instructors will create a safe, engaging environment while promoting water safety and fostering a positive experience for participants and their families.

Key responsibilities include delivering swim instruction, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent customer service. Required qualifications include at least 16 years of age, certifications in Water Safety Instruction, CPR, and First Aid. SUMMARY

The Jewish Community Center is seeking positive, energetic, and professional Swim Instructors to provide high-quality swim lessons to our members and the broader community. The ideal candidate will ensure a safe, engaging, and educational environment for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Swim instructors are responsible for leading group, private, and semi-private lessons while promoting water safety and fostering a positive experience for participants and their families.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Deliver swim instruction and water safety education to individuals and groups in accordance with program guidelines.
• Foster a fun and educational swim lesson experience.
• Follow and enforce all facility rules and regulations to ensure a safe aquatics environment.
• Communicate expectations and rules of the facility to participants.
• Provide exemplary customer service, ensuring the best swim lesson experience for the participants and parents.
• Maintain accurate and timely records, including attendance, progress evaluations, and incident reports as required.
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.
• Attend all training sessions and any additional staff meetings as required.

WHO YOU ARE

Required:

• Minimum age of 16 years old.
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
• Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to engage positively with individuals across all age groups.
• Passionate and enthusiastic.
• Sound knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules.
• Ability to perform and demonstrate in-water skills teaching assessment.

Preferred:

• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally. The work environment may be fast-paced and requires high energy and interaction with others. The aquatic environment can be loud and may involve prolonged exposure to water and humidity.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Salary (or Salary Range): $17
