Swim instruction is a meaningful part-time role where you participate in the formation of foundational memories for children in the local community while teaching skills that can be life-saving. It’s also an engaging and enjoyable job, with the unique benefit of spending shifts in a pool and, sometimes, in flip flops.

A First Class Support Group: Leaps & Bounds prioritizes a strong work culture and aims to cultivate a tight-knit community among staff. You’ll be surrounded by a supportive group both on and off the pool deck.

Professional Development: Most staff are in their teens or twenties and are often moving into new life phases. We offer professional development advice, resume/portfolio reviews, and guidance toward networking opportunities in fields of choice.

Interpersonal Skill-Building: Teaching swim helps you develop people skills as you engage with children and their parents daily. Public speaking opportunities arise in a forgiving setting with toddlers as the audience.

When working with children, maintain a calm, confident demeanor and provide clear instructions. These traits are valuable in any future work.

A Path to Full-Time Work: While this may start as a part-time role, aquatics is a multi-billion dollar global industry with full-time opportunities. A part-time position can lead to salaried opportunities elsewhere as a:

  • Swim team coach
  • Swim school manager or supervisor
  • Lifeguard/CPR trainer
  • Pool maintenance worker
  • Personal fitness trainer
  • Childcare worker
  • Classroom teacher

Although we’re just getting started, we hope to offer some full-time swim instructor positions to our staff in the near future. There will always be demand for workers who can teach swimming.

STARTING PAY:

$9.50-$10.50

Responsibilities
  • Teach swimming to children and engage with their parents on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrate calm, confident instruction and maintain a constructive demeanor while giving guidance.

  • A love for the water and the ability to swim confidently

According to the CDC, drowning is the #1 cause of accidental death among children ages 1-4, and this number drops to #2 by age 14. Also, 46% of American adults fear going into pools deeper than they can stand. If you’d like to help local kids gain a life-changing skill, submit your application today!
