Job summary

Goldfish Swim School is seeking a Swim Instructor to instruct students in water safety and proper swim techniques using our curriculum. You will ensure a fun, safe learning environment and engage with families throughout lessons.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, and lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certifications or training. Flexible shifts support students or those seeking extra hours, with opportunities for advancement as the school grows.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with children in a classroom-like pool setting.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Must pass background examinations (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Provide swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
• Enforce safety rules and regulations; perform rescues and first aid if needed.
• Evaluate progress and complete required paperwork promptly.
• Interact with parents/guardians regarding swim skill development.
• Act as a GSS ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction.
• Assist with deck teacher duties and light cleaning as needed.

Summary

Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
2. Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents. Makes rescues and administers first aid when necessary.
3. Evaluates students' progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
4. Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students' swim skills.
5. Acts as a GSS "ambassador" to ensure parental satisfaction.
6. Uses problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter.
7. Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Reports issues to management as appropriate.
8. Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Places and removes lane lines.
9. Reports accidents and incidents to management. Completes required documentation and paperwork.
10. Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed.
11. Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion.
12. Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours.
13. Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED is preferred. Swimming experience, experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. Shallow water attendant highly recommended.

Work Environment

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
