Job summary

British Swim School of Northwest Detroit is seeking a Lead Swim Instructor to teach lessons to children and adults using our gentle, structured methods. You’ll train with us and bring energy, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

Evening and weekend shifts fit around college schedules, and training is provided. There are opportunities for raises based on performance, and you’ll help kids build water confidence while staying active and engaged.

The Role

As a Lead Swim Instructor, you’ll teach swim lessons to children and adults (as young as 3 months old) using our fun, gentle, and structured methods.

You don’t need to be an expert instructor—we train you. What matters most is your energy, reliability, and willingness to learn.

You’ll play a direct role in helping kids build confidence in the water and learn life‑saving skills.

Available Schedule

• Evenings: Monday–Wednesday (4:45 PM – 8:00 PM)
• Sundays: 10:15 AM – 2:30 PM

What You Need

• Comfortable in the water with basic swimming ability
• Positive, outgoing personality
• Reliable and able to commit to a consistent schedule

Bonus If You Have

• Experience working with kids or tutoring
• Customer service experience
• Lifeguard/CPR/AED certification (or willingness to get certified during training)
