Job summary

Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges is seeking a part-time swim instructor to lead classes with up to 12 children, teaching in-water sessions and guiding students through strokes and techniques. You will monitor progress, maintain records, and ensure safety in all activities.

Requirements include strong communication, organizational skills, and achieving YSL or Red Cross certification within the first year. Competitive benefits and schedule flexibility offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years and proven knowledge of swim strokes.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Strong ability to teach and manage groups in water-based lessons.
• Must obtain YSL or American Red Cross certification within 1st year.

Responsibilities

• Teach YMCA swim lesson program classes in the water for every session.
• Instruct freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly elements and sidestroke.
• Evaluate student progress against class criteria and provide feedback.
• Maintain accurate attendance and class records; keep area clean after each lesson.
• Attend staff meetings and training; arrange coverage if unable to attend.
