Compensation: $15.50 - $17.00 / hour

Description

Title: Swim Aid
Position Type: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, this position is responsible for assisting certified YSL Aquatic Instructors during lessons. This position will work only under the supervision of a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor.

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Assist aquatics instructors during swim classes.

  • Be prepared for class. Have all equipment available and ready prior to swim class. Assist in putting away all equipment after swim classes.

  • Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.

  • Ensure a clean and safe pool environment at all times.

  • Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships, understand each individual's goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.

  • Attend mandatory monthly in-service training. Attend mandatory twice per year association trainings.

  • May be required to work one on one with individual students during group classes.

  • All other duties as assigned.



Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Swim Aide is for 15 years of age to 15 years and 11 months of age

  • No experience necessary.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.

  • May be required to be in the pool for an extended period of time.

  • At times, be able to lift up to 50 lbs.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

  • Shifts vary, but may include early mornings, nights, and weekends.
