Job summary

City of Lancaster seeks a skilled operator to perform maintenance on heavy motor equipment and operate street cleaning and snow removal vehicles. The role requires CDL B, reliable teamwork, and strong safety practices.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform preventive maintenance on heavy motor equipment.
• Operate a street sweeper to clean streets, alleys and parking lots.
• Operate a tank truck flusher and a snow loader during snow removal.
• Maintain equipment through routine servicing and inspections.
• May oversee and assist laborers in loading/unloading trucks and other manual tasks.
• Operate a snowplow, dump truck, and other power tools as needed.
• Work long hours and be available for after-hours emergencies and weather events.

*3rd Shift - 2:00AM to 10:00AM*

Operates and performs preventive maintenance on heavy motor equipment.

• Follows safe practices in the performance of duties.
• Operates a street sweeper in cleaning streets, alleys and parking lots.
• Operates a tank truck flusher.
• Operates a snow loader when removing heavy snow accumulations.
• Performs routine maintenance on motorized equipment as required.
• May oversee and assist a small group of laborers and operators in loading and unloading trucks, patching streets, and other manual laboring tasks as required.
• Operates a truck mounted snowplow and drives a dump truck.
• Performs manual labor involving loading and unloading trucks, digging of ditches, felling and trimming of trees, cutting brush, and similar tasks.
• Operates a rubber tire loader in general maintenance work during snow removal operations.
• Drives tractors for cutting grass.
• Uses a jackhammer and other power driven equipment.

Education, Training and Experience

• Graduation from High School or completion of a GED is required.
• A minimum of two (2) years documented on-the-job experience in operating heavy motor equipment on a regular basis is required.
• A minimum of one (1) year documented experience in making mechanical repairs and adjustments and servicing heavy motor equipment is required.

Licenses and Certificates

• Must possess a valid CDL Class B; Class A possession is preferred.

• Ability to operate a vehicle on private and public streets is required.
• Skill in the use of hand tools, power and motorized equipment.
