The Burlington School District seeks a passionate Swahili or Arabic teacher for Hunt Middle School, committed to high student achievement and inclusive learning. The candidate should hold Vermont teaching licensure or be eligible to obtain it, and ideally can teach additional world language Exploratory courses.

Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
• Endorsement in Swahili or Arabic (06A) or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
• Ability to teach one or more World Language Exploratory sections.
• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Experience teaching at the middle school level.
• Differentiating instruction and curriculum aligned with Common Core and backward design.
• Understanding of Cultural Competency.
• Knowledge of behavioral support frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and activities for middle school language learners.
• Develop tests aligned with established expectations.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times.
• Assess and record learning; adjust instruction accordingly.
• Collaborate with colleagues and EST teams to meet diverse needs.
• Attend in-service days and staff meetings.
• Maintain positive school-community relations and report incidents when needed.
• Respond to emergencies and ensure student safety.
