Western Alliance Bancorporation is seeking an SVP, Trader (Non-Agency) to lead the Non-QM and Jumbo whole-loan trading strategy in Westlake Village, CA. You will price, execute, hedge, and manage counterparty relationships across flow, bulk, and securitization channels.

The role requires deep expertise in Non-QM credit, whole-loan trading, and capital markets, with cross-functional partnership across sales, operations, risk, and finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Masters or MBA preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of residential mortgage industry and capital markets.

Responsibilities

• Lead Non-QM and Jumbo whole-loan trading activities including flow and bulk executions.
• Determine best-execution strategies to optimize profitability and manage risk.
• Partner with Secondary Marketing and Product teams to design pricing frameworks and investor pay-ups.
• Develop and maintain relationships with investors, broker-dealers, and securitization partners.
• Oversee risk reporting, hedging, and margin management for Non-Agency production.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless trade execution and settlements.

Job Title:SVP, Trader (Non-Agency)Location:CA - Westlake VillageWhat you'll do:The SVP, Trader (Non-Agency) will lead the development and execution of the firm’s Non-QM and AUS Jumbo whole-loan trading strategy. This role is responsible for pricing, execution, hedging, and counterparty relationships across flow, bulk, and securitization outlets. The SVP Trader will play a critical role in scaling Non-Agency originations while optimizing best execution and production P&L.This position requires deep expertise in Non-QM credit, whole loan trading, secondary marketing, and non-agency capital markets, with the ability to partner cross-functionally across sales, operations, risk, and finance. Experience with PLS deal execution and cash flow modeling is required.Responsibilities:Trading & Execution LeadershipLead Non-QM and Jumbo whole-loan trading activities, including flow and bulk executions, investor bid processes, and trade allocation decisions.Determine best-execution strategies, including whole-loan sales versus securitization alternatives, to optimize profitability.Manage daily pricing, position risk, and inventory, including margin targets and hedge effectiveness.Product & Pricing StrategyPartner with Secondary Marketing and Product teams to design pricing frameworks, rate sheets, and investor pay-up strategies for Non-QM and Jumbo products.Incorporate market movements, investor appetite, and credit performance into pricing decisions and guideline evolution.Counterparty & Market EngagementDevelop and maintain strong relationships with whole-loan investors, broker-dealers, aggregation desks, and securitization partners.Represent the firm professionally in all buy-side and sell-side trading interactions, negotiations, and market discussions.Risk Management & AnalyticsOversee pipeline hedging frameworks, market risk exposure, and reporting for Non-Agency production.Monitor credit, liquidity, and execution risks while ensuring adherence to internal policies and risk limits.Cross-Functional LeadershipWork closely with Correspondent Sales, Operations, Underwriting, Servicing, Finance, and Compliance to ensure seamless trade execution and settlement.Lead, mentor, and develop trading and secondary marketing staff as the Non-Agency platform scales.What you'll need:10+ years of related experience in Residential Mortgage Lending, Capital Markets or similar field.Bachelor's degree in related field required; Masters or MBA in related field preferred.Advanced to expert knowledge of residential mortgage industry in Correspondent or Retail Lending including; sales, operations, capital markets and/or other residential mortgage products and services.Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.Advanced in Capital Markets functions including trading, hedging, best execution calculations and margin management.Intermediate in VBA and/or SQL and Excel.Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.Compensation: Salary range for new hires is generally $222,060.00 - $289,456.00 for Westlake Village, CA. Salary amount is determined by specific job location.
