Reporting directly to the Head of US Institutional Sales, the SVP, Institutional Sales Manager, Midwest ("Sales Manager") will be responsible for driving new business from institutional investors as a member of the US distribution team, covering a geographic region roughly defined as the Midwest region of the US.
The Midwest represents the highest concentration of institutional allocators in the country, making this role critical to Franklin Templeton’s growth strategy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for direct sales to public and corporate funds, endowments and foundations, insurance companies and health care organizations, and family offices in the region. You will develop a strategic plan for the acquisition of new institutional assets and revenue for the firm and execute it enthusiastically in collaboration with other distribution colleagues and across multiple asset classes.
Of significant importance to the role are coordination, collaboration, and communication within the distribution team, consultant relations, client relationship managers, with the investment teams, and with other Franklin Templeton investment management teams. The Midwest is home to many alternative investment teams and clients, so experience with alternatives and the ability to work closely with alternative investment teams based in New York is strongly preferred.
An articulated sales process that has resulted in a quantifiable track record of institutional sales success to institutional investors is essential. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional record of sales through the establishment of client relationships with senior-level buyers at the CIO, CFO, and Trustee levels, while also building strong working relationships with mid-level staff who play a critical role in driving new business opportunities.
The Sales Manager will have the ability to successfully represent a broad range of asset classes, including traditional strategies as well as alternatives. They will be adept at managing a sales plan and shifting priorities, while effectively bringing the full resources of Franklin Templeton to bear – including investment leadership, thought capital, and global platform expertise – to advance client dialogue and drive strategic engagement.
