Job summary

Truist is seeking a senior Financial Crimes model analytics leader to drive AML/CTF analytics, data strategy, and monitoring initiatives. You will guide cross-functional teams, provide technical leadership, and help evolve the function toward people leadership as it grows.

This role offers a remote option for the right candidate and requires strong SAS, analytics, and leadership capabilities across a distributed team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten years of SAS experience with large data problems and modeling procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience testing and monitoring models including threshold tuning and scenario testing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate analytics and data insights to support decision-making.

Responsible for leading one or more Financial Crimes model analytics, monitoring optimization, data strategy, or innovation functions within the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) monitoring strategies.. The role serves as a senior subject matter expert and team lead, driving strategic initiatives, influencing cross-functional teams, and providing technical leadership to model owners and analytics resources. This position may evolve into formal people leadership as the function grows.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure delivery of accurate and actionable analytics, reporting, or data insights, if applicable, to aid key decision-making and support effective operations within the Financial Crimes Program
  • Be stewards and champions of data quality and data management initiatives/best practices within Financial Crimes to help ensure viable, accurate, and effective data for Financial Crimes program usage.
  • Develop high functioning working relationships with internal and external partners to aid in achieving strategic objectives and a best in class Financial Crimes program.
  • Develop and maintain financial crimes subject matter expertise for self and teammates.
  • Whenever required, provide support and materials for responding to internal and external reviewers of the Financial Crimes program, as well as assist in managing and resolving issues that arise from these reviews as required.
  • Ensure proper procedures and documentation on team processes are developed, maintained, and followed in accordance with enterprise standards.
  • Manage special projects directed by Managing Director of Financial Crimes or GSS Director and providing seasoned experience and influence/guidance to management across functions within Global Sanctions and Financial Crimes
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical, project management, and organizational skills and experience working with metrics, reporting, data, modeling, and/or technology initiatives.
  • Ten years of SAS experience (or other applicable model development software) with application to large data problems and relevant statistical procedures. Ability to test, maintain, and monitor models, including: threshold tuning, sensitivity analyses, and scenario testing
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to interact with all levels of management effectively.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a high-stress, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with teammates in multiple geographic locations
  • Strong work ethic and desire to enhance knowledge base and technical skills
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and adapt to shifting objectives
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Adept with Microsoft Office products
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Business Administration or other applied quantitative science, or equivalent education and related training
  • Seven years of demonstrated experience with Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, Fraud, and/or Compliance Intelligence programs
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations impacting financial crimes programs
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), or other qualified, related professional certifications
