Job summary

Truist is seeking a senior leader to oversee financial crimes modeling, analytics, and data strategy within the Financial Crimes unit. You will design and drive initiatives to ensure accurate tools and insights for detecting, investigating, and reporting financial crimes.

The role emphasizes a risk-based, intelligence-led approach, leveraging data to monitor performance, tune models, and manage change related to AML/CTF monitoring. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics/Advanced Analytics, Marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent education and related training.
  • Ten years of related experience.
  • Experience working with SAS, Python, R, SQL, or other data manipulation tools for predictive analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and projects in a complex analytical environment.
  • Excellent problem solving skills; ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and administer one or more models, analytics, metrics, reporting, data strategy, or innovation functions within Truist's FIU.
  • Develop and manage data quality, insights, and governance for the Financial Crimes program.
  • Build relationships with internal and external partners to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Provide SME guidance and career development for staff.
  • Support reviewers and manage issues arising from reviews.
  • Ensure procedures and documentation align with enterprise standards and manage special projects.

Responsible for leading and administering one or more models, analytics, metrics, reporting, data strategy, or innovation functions within Truist's Financial Crimes Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). This role is focused on designing and driving initiatives that ensure accurate, effective, and efficient tools and insights are available to detect, investigate, and report financial crimes. The position applies a risk-based, intelligence-led approach by leveraging data and advanced analytics to monitor ongoing performance, manage tuning activities, and oversee change management related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) monitoring strategies.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Serve as a well-seasoned manager responsible to provide financial crimes model analytics, metrics and reporting, data insights, innovation initiatives, data strategy and/or data quality for the Financial Crimes program.

  • Responsible for salary administration, performance assessment, coaching, team member selection, training, subject matter expertise and career development of staff. This leader will plan, organize, coordinate, and manage work of resources within assigned area of responsibility to meet division, department, and enterprise goals.

  • Ensure delivery of accurate and actionable analytics, reporting, or data insights, if applicable, to aid key decision-making and support effective operations within the Financial Crimes Program.

  • Be stewards and champions of data quality and data management initiatives/best practices within Financial Crimes to help ensure viable, accurate, and effective data for Financial Crimes program usage.

  • Develop high functioning working relationships with internal and external partners to aid in achieving strategic objectives and a best in class Financial Crimes program.

  • Develop and maintain financial crimes subject matter expertise for self and teammates.

  • Whenever required, provide support and materials for responding to internal and external reviewers of the Financial Crimes program, as well as assist in managing and resolving issues that arise from these reviews as required.

  • Ensure proper procedures and documentation on team processes are developed, maintained, and followed in accordance with enterprise standards.

  • Manage special projects and providing seasoned experience and influence/guidance to management across functions within Global Sanctions and Financial Crimes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics/Advanced Analytics, Marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent education and related training.

  • Ten years of related experience.

  • Experience working with SAS, Python, R, SQL, or other data manipulation tools for predictive analytics.

  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and projects in a complex analytical environment.

  • Excellent problem solving skills with a demonstrated record of success in an internal or external consulting environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences.

  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office suite.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Business Administration or other applied quantitative science, or equivalent education and related training

  • Seven years of demonstrated experience with Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, Fraud, and/or Compliance Intelligence programs

  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations impacting financial crimes programs

  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), or other qualified, related professional certifications
