Acadia Insurance (a Berkley Company) in Westbrook, ME, seeks a senior leader to drive profitability and growth across its commercial lines portfolio. You will lead sales, marketing and agency engagement, while ensuring underwriting excellence and strategic execution in a collaborative culture.

The role requires extensive experience, strong data analysis, and demonstrated ability to build and coach high‑performing teams, with travel within New England and Upstate New York.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Marketing, or related field.
• MBA or related graduate degree and/or CPCU/ARM/CLU preferred.
• Twenty years of commercial lines insurance experience with underwriting/marketing and P&L responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Consistently achieve operating unit goals for production, profitability, and service.
• Drive effective sales, distribution, marketing, and agency engagement strategies that optimize opportunities across Acadia’s territory and business segments, including Middle Market, Small Business, and Inland Marine.
• Optimize field underwriting operations to consistently achieve expense ratio, loss ratio goals and production goals.
• Employ effective talent management practices to recruit, retain, and develop underwriting and marketing professionals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Marketing, or a related field required. Advanced degree (MBA or related graduate degree) and/or professional insurance designations such as CPCU, ARM, or CLU preferred.

• Twenty years of commercial lines insurance experience, including significant underwriting and marketing experience with P&L responsibility.
• Established agency relationships in New England and Upstate New York.
• A successful track record of building teams and working in a highly collaborative culture.
• Strong aptitude for analyzing and translating data.
• Superior strategic and execution skills, along with strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
• Successful experience in strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, and commercial lines market research and planning.
• Ability to consistently demonstrate WRBC Leadership Core Competencies and Innovation Behaviors.
• Approximately 25% travel required within New England and New York.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Position will be based out of our Westbrook, ME office.

• Base Salary Range: $200k-275K
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus
