Job summary

NOV is seeking a Sustaining Software Engineer to support the NOVOS Automation Drilling Platform and related field deployments. You will provide second-level technical support, perform root cause analysis, and develop configurations for customer-specific needs.

You will work with Linux-based systems, AWS, SQL, Python, and virtualization, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve product reliability and deployment processes. Domestic and international travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/SE.
• Experience supporting industrial automation, control systems, or complex software applications.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis for integrated software/hardware systems.
• Knowledge of networking architecture, firewall administration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience administering Linux-based systems and familiarity with AWS cloud services.
• Experience with web application administration, user access management, and configuration management.
• Proficiency in SQL, Linux, Python, and virtualization technologies (VirtualBox, VMware, or Hyper-V).
• Field experience supporting industrial automation systems is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required for customer support and field deployments.

Responsibilities

• Provide second-level technical support for software products and automation systems and ensure timely issue resolution.
• Use Jira Service Management to track, prioritize, and resolve issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and propose effective field solutions.
• Develop and maintain customer-specific software configurations for optimal performance.
• Improve deployment processes and support tools to streamline operations.
• Develop diagnostics and enhancements for field support.
• Maintain virtualized test and training environments for testing accuracy.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to identify product improvement opportunities.
• Update firewall configurations and security policies using approved scripting and automation tools.
• Administer web applications, manage user access, and release configuration files for deployments.
