Job summary

Pentair is seeking a Sustaining Mechanical Engineering Manager in Hanover Park, IL to lead the Commercial Water Filtration Sustaining Engineering team, driving portfolio optimization, design for manufacturability, and value-driven product improvements.

You will coach and develop talent, prioritize work, and collaborate across functions to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, scalable solutions. 8–12+ years in mechanical engineering; CAD tools proficiency; ECN/ECR experience; RCA capability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 8–12+ years of mechanical engineering, design, and analysis experience.
• Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, NX).
• Experience designing components for mass production including injection molding, casting, extrusion, sheet metal, or fabrication.
• Experience with ECR/ECN processes and engineering changes.
• Familiarity with VA/VE and DFMEA processes.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers of varying experience levels.
• Coordinate, assign, and monitor work to meet scope, schedule, and quality goals.
• Drive DFMEA sessions and lead design reviews; develop test plans and reports.
• Lead Engineering change notices and the ECN process.
• Collaborate with vendors for manufacturing analysis and design optimization.
• Identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
