You will diagnose mechanical issues, perform root cause analyses, and improve reliability while collaborating with Design, Electrical, and Test teams to ensure accurate test data throughout product development.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, sustaining engineering, mechanical design, or test equipment development.
• Experience with design reviews, CAD, and mechanical iterations.
• Ability to translate testing needs into reliable hardware and fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical issues across test equipment and stands.
• Perform root cause analysis on systems involving thermal, fluid, HVAC, and related equipment.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering and Test teams to translate testing requirements into hardware solutions.
• Coordinate with Test Technicians to maintain test stand uptime and resolve equipment issues.
• Work with Electrical and Controls teams to integrate sensors and actuators into test rigs.
• Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and uptime.
• Update CAD models, BOMs, work instructions, and documentation.
• Document troubleshooting activities and corrective actions.

Sustaining Mechanical Engineer – Test InfrastructureAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer to support, maintain, and optimize complex test infrastructure used to validate advanced energy systems.This role is focused on keeping high-fidelity mechanical test systems operational, reliable, and representative of real-world conditions. You will troubleshoot existing test equipment, identify root causes, improve system performance, and work closely with engineering and test teams to ensure reliable test data throughout the product development lifecycle.You will support test environments involving thermal management, fluid handling, air handling, pumps, manifolds, and other mechanical systems used to evaluate cells, modules, and larger system assemblies.What You’ll DoDiagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical issues across complex test equipment and test stands.Perform root cause analysis on systems involving thermal management, fluid handling, air handling, HVAC, and related equipment.Work with Design Engineering and Test teams to translate testing requirements into reliable mechanical hardware and test infrastructure.Partner with Test Technicians to maintain test stand uptime and quickly resolve equipment issues.Collaborate with Electrical, Controls, and other engineering teams to integrate sensors, actuators, and data acquisition hardware.Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, stability, and uptime.Support validation efforts by ensuring test equipment accurately represents intended operating conditions.Update and maintain CAD models, BOMs, work instructions, and other technical documentation.Document troubleshooting activities, root cause findings, and corrective actions.Identify and reduce technical debt within existing test infrastructure.Support continuous improvement efforts across test equipment and mechanical systems.Maintain a strong focus on safety when working with high-power, pressurized, thermal, and chemical systems.What You’ll BringBS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, sustaining engineering, mechanical design, or test equipment development.Strong experience with SolidWorks or another mechanical CAD platform.Experience troubleshooting and maintaining complex mechanical systems.Experience working in a manufacturing, testing, or production engineering environment.Experience developing or supporting production-quality tools, equipment, or test fixtures.Understanding of fluid systems, thermal management, pumps, fans, airflow, or related mechanical systems.Experience selecting and integrating sensors into electromechanical systems.Understanding of safety and compliance considerations when working with high-power, pressurized, or chemical systems.Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.Ability to balance speed, technical rigor, and safety when troubleshooting equipment.Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across mechanical, electrical, controls, and test engineering teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting battery, energy storage, power systems, or other complex electromechanical products.Experience with automated test equipment or data acquisition systems.Experience working with thermal, fluid, pneumatic, or air-handling systems.Experience creating and maintaining work instructions, BOMs, and technical documentation.Experience in a fast-paced hardware development or manufacturing environment.
