Job summary

Cirrus Aircraft is seeking an A&E Sustaining Engineer to provide continuing engineering support for the SR2X and SF50 fleets. The role focuses on evaluating and redesigning components for reliability, cost, weight and safety, while solving avionics and electrical issues with timely testing and verification under FAA regulations.

The engineer will run medium-sized projects, coordinate with multiple company areas and external vendors, and produce detailed reports and test plans suitable for FAR

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering required.
  • 4-7 years' experience with general aviation avionics preferred.
  • Experience with software development processes and requirements traceability preferred.
  • Avionics systems and/or software design, integration, installation, testing and certification experience.
  • Experience in aircraft, automotive, or consumer electronics circuit design and integration desired.
  • Experience with data acquisition system development and application desired.
  • Experience performing system safety assessments required.
  • FAA certification experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English; strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Job description

Overview

Responsible for providing continuing engineering support for Cirrus fleet of SR2X and SF50 aircraft. The primary focus of the A&E Sustaining Engineer is to evaluate, and redesign components and systems based on reliability, cost, weight or safety. Also, support resolving avionics and electrical functional issues. Use analysis, bench and flight testing, along with good design practices to determine the root cause and verify solution. This must be done with compliance of the governing FAA regulations and Cirrus specifications. The A&E Sustaining Engineer must be able to run medium sized projects, coordinating easily with many other areas of the company and outside vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Support production and field team in addressing software issues on production and field aircraft .

  • Support production and service teams in addressing avionics and electrical issues on production and field aircraft.
  • Support production and field service teams in addressing electrical issues on production and field aircraft. Apply pertinent sections of Federal Aviation Regulations Part 23.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) required
  • 4-7 years' experience with general aviation aircraft/avionics preferred
  • Experience with software development processes and requirements traceability preferred
  • Avionics systems and/or software design, integration, installation, testing and certification experience
  • Experience in aircraft, automotive, or consumer electronics circuit design and integration desired
  • Experience with data acquisition system development and application desired.

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
  • Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks
  • Use of lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
