Job summary

Cirrus Aircraft is seeking an A&E Sustaining Engineer to provide continuing engineering support for the SR2X and SF50 fleets. The role focuses on evaluating and redesigning components for reliability, cost, weight and safety, while solving avionics and electrical issues with timely testing and verification under FAA regulations.

The engineer will run medium-sized projects, coordinate with multiple company areas and external vendors, and produce detailed reports and test plans suitable for FAR

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering required.
  • 4-7 years' experience with general aviation avionics preferred.
  • Experience with software development processes and requirements traceability preferred.
  • Avionics systems and/or software design, integration, installation, testing and certification experience.
  • Experience in aircraft, automotive, or consumer electronics circuit design and integration desired.
  • Experience with data acquisition system development and application desired.
  • Experience performing system safety assessments required.
  • FAA certification experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English; strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Requirements development and traceability.
  • Research and identify potential solutions to design objectives.
  • Detail design and installation.
  • Test case development, execution, and troubleshooting on bench and aircraft.
  • Coordinate design development and system integration with Cirrus and subcontractors.
  • Generate high-quality reports and test plans to meet FAR Part 23.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot software issues from field aircraft.
  • Support production and field teams addressing avionics and electrical issues.
