Job summary

Cirrus is seeking an Electrical Engineer to assist the Electrical Engineering department with design, integration, and testing of aircraft electrical systems and wire harnesses on Cirrus aircraft and test benches. You will work on power generation, distribution, and analog circuit design, with emphasis on reliable harness architecture.

The role requires 2–4 years in aviation electrical design, proficiency with CREO, MATLAB, Eagle, and lab equipment, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, aerospace, mechanical or related engineering.
  • 2–4 years of direct engineering experience in aviation or automotive electrical systems.
  • Experience with wire harness design and aircraft electrical system integration.
  • Proficient with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers).
  • Experience using CREO, MATLAB, Eagle, VBA or similar tools for design work.
  • Ability to read/write technical documents and present design reviews clearly.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, certify, and support aircraft electrical systems such as power generation and distribution and wire harnesses.
  • Develop and maintain electrical wiring diagrams and harness architecture to meet requirements.
  • Draft electrical equipment assemblies and 3D models, and produce installation drawings for avionics systems.
  • Select electrical components and support electrical integration with mechanical and avionics teams.
  • Generate certification plans and FAR Part 23 compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and other functions to ensure timely delivery.

Assist the Electrical Engineering department with the design,

Overview

Assist the Electrical Engineering department with the design, integration, and testing of electrical systems and wire harness on Cirrus aircraft and/or test benches. Systems include power generation and distribution, and analog circuit design.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the design, testing, certification, and ongoing engineering support of various aspects of aircraft electrical systems such as power generation and storage, power distribution, wire harness design, etc.
  • Develop and maintain electrical wiring diagrams and harness architecture to meet aircraft system requirements (e.g. functionality, electrical loading, and circuit protection, electromagnetic compatibility, and routing constraints).
  • Design, drafting, and review of electrical equipment assemblies, enclosures, electrical wiring 3D models, part drawings, assembly drawings, and installation drawings for aircraft electrical and avionics systems, including power distribution, RF, and data busses.
  • Selection of electrical components (CCA components, switches, connectors, etc.).
  • Support mechanical and avionics systems with electrical integration details, including circuit design and analysis and electromagnetic effects/radiated field analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate design development and system integration with subcontractors.
  • Generate certification plans and reports to meet FAR Part 23 requirements.
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Travel requirements estimated at 25%
Required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, aerspace, industrial or computer engineering; or a combonation of education and experience may be acceptable.
  • 2-4 years' of direct experience.
  • Aviation or automotive electrical system and wire harness design.
  • Use of lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and data acquisition equipment
  • Experience using CREO, Matlab, Eagle, VBA, or similar programs
  • Performing trade studies
  • Reading and writing technical documents, such as design specifications, analysis reports, schematics, test plans, and test reports.
  • Presenting design reviews to peers and management
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Handle multiple activities simultaneously and ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
  • Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks
  • Use of lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
  • Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
Preferred
  • Master's degree.
  • Aviation and Pilot experience
  • Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA, PTC Windchill PDM, and PTC Creo tools , Siemans Capital Logic Designer and Harness Designer , Matlab, Eagle, VBA, and Altium.
