Job summary

Verdant Structural Engineers in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Staff Structural Engineer to design residential and commercial buildings with emphasis on sustainable design. You will lead projects from concept through construction, applying materials and collaborating with owners, contractors, and architectural teams.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of industry design experience, a bachelor’s in civil engineering, and proficiency in AutoCAD; REVIT and licensure are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
• 2–5 years of industry design experience preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD required; Revit experience a plus.
• EIT or PE license and REVIT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design residential and commercial buildings (remodels and new construction).
• Perform sustainable structural design using materials such as straw bale, cob, adobe, rammed earth and bamboo.
• Produce structural drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, Enercalc, and Risa 3D.
• Collaborate with owners, contractors and architectural design firms.
• Manage your own work on a project from start to finish.
• Site visits are regularly required.
• Opportunities to engage with outreach may be available.
