Job Description

Are you passionate about environmental stewardship and enjoy meaningful outdoor work? Join our team to gain paid training in native landscaping and watershed management while making a tangible difference in Minneapolis communities.

As a Sustainable Landscapes Apprentice, you will maintain native habitats and improve water quality throughout Minneapolis. You will work alongside your crew to care for native gardens, implement rain garden projects, and develop water catchment systems that prevent pollution. You will participate in our structured mentorship program designed to build essential career skills while creating pathways to future employment in this growing field. This position reports to our Program Director.

Responsibilities

• Maintain native gardens through invasive plant removal, trash cleanup, watering, and replanting
• Assist with rain garden design, plant selection, and garden health assessment
• Help plan and construct rain catchment systems
• Track project budgets and develop invoices
• Schedule and coordinate site work as needed
• Participate in 5-10 hours weekly of training and independent learning in native landscaping, habitat maintenance, and career development
• Travel to various project sites throughout Minneapolis
  
  

Essential Experience

• Minimum age of 18
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Capacity to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  
  

Non-essential Experience

• Basic knowledge of Minnesota native and invasive plants
• Garden care experience
• Familiarity with power tools such as weed trimmers
• Valid driver's license
  
  

Compensation & Benefits

• $18/hour
• Pesticide Applicator License and Native Landscaping certification opportunities
• Mileage reimbursement ($0.30/mile) for qualified work-related travel
