Job summary

Arup seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Seattle to help design HVAC services with a focus on sustainability. You will collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop integrated solutions for complex buildings and perform analyses including load calculations, energy modelling, and façade/airflow studies.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Architectural Engineering, or Building Sciences.
• Pursuing a Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Architectural Engineering, or Building Sciences preferred.
• Coursework in heat transfer and thermodynamics, fluid dynamics or HVAC design.
• Developing interest in the built environment.
• Proven leadership experience and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas clearly.
• Attitude of taking initiative and eagerness to learn; teamwork and creativity.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team-based work.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC services with emphasis on sustainable design.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants for integrated solutions.
• Perform engineering analysis and modelling, including load calculations and energy analysis.
• Document system design in Revit MEP.
• Communicate technical ideas via presentations and workshops.
• Write reports documenting calculation methods and results and design assumptions.
• Prioritize effectively and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
• Influence design toward sustainable outcomes for our clients.
