Job summary

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) is seeking a seasoned Architect to lead multifaceted project teams in the LA area. You will guide design, technical execution, and financial performance, while aligning with client objectives and firm standards.

Responsibilities include drafting client agreements, monitoring budgets and schedules, and participating in marketing efforts. The role requires leadership, clear communication, and a commitment to sustainable, high-quality architecture within a hybrid

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture; licensure process near completion.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of experience or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Fluency in both written and spoken Spanish is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage schedule, budget and program.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, parametric and rendering software; proficiency in common tools.

Responsibilities

• Leads the Architectural Project Team with SOM Partners project leadership to achieve design, technical and financial success.
• Prepares quality client agreements including letters of intent and service agreements; executes and secures authorization by phase.
• Collaborates to prepare and manage compliance plans with budget, deliverables and schedule; chairs weekly team meetings.
• Manages internal controls with Project Accountant including billing, collections and year-end activities.
• Participates in project design and technical discussions and decision making.
• Maintains project records and communicates through minutes and correspondence.
• Manages owner/client relationships to enable effective, efficient collaboration.
• Contributes to new business efforts and maintenance of firm relationships.
• Develops and maintains project schedule and work plan; leads weekly project meetings.
