Job summary

Penn State’s Sustainability Experience Center seeks an intern to support educational tours and visitor engagement while stewarding the pollinator garden and vegetable plots. This role runs March 2027 through June 2027 and offers hands-on learning in sustainability, ecology, and community engagement.

The intern will lead tours, assist with workshops, track basic data, document plant growth, and help maintain an inviting learning space for visitors and researchers alike.

Qualifications

• Interest in sustainability, environmental education, gardening, and ecological stewardship.
• Comfort with public speaking and engaging diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in outdoor settings; may require outdoor work in adverse weather.
• Basic proficiency in Excel or similar data tracking tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging and educational tours for visitors and support public programming, workshops, volunteer events, and experiences.
• Support general site operations, including basic data tracking, garden documentation, and prep for programming and tours.
• Support maintenance of pollinator garden and vegetable plots, including planting, weeding, harvesting, and upkeep to maintain an inviting learning environment.
