Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish/English (spoken) is required.
  • Experience as a lead or supervisor is required.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Docs is helpful.
  • Preferred: TRUE Advisor (GBCI) certificate and TRUE Zero Waste project experience.

Overview

The Sustainability Lead supports the LA facility by ensuring daily waste-management procedures are executed correctly across operations, focusing on zero waste and environmental compliance. Responsibilities include waste audits, donation coordination, waste-sorting guidance, and maintaining efficient waste-diversion systems.

Responsibilities
  • Execute daily waste audits and prepare waste for donation or internal use.
  • Coordinate donation pick-ups with partner organizations.
  • Maintain Green Stations and ensure supplies for proper waste diversion are available and correctly used.
  • Monitor compliance, identify contamination, and reinforce correct waste-handling behaviors among staff.
  • Oversee waste sorting, recycling, composting, and disposal procedures to support zero-waste goals.
  • Track, analyze, and report waste data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support sustainability audits, implement corrective actions, and maintain documentation for certifications and compliance.
  • Organize sustainability training sessions for employees and chef teams, promoting adherence to green practices.
  • Collaborate with the Sustainability team and cross-functional partners to implement best practices and sustainability initiatives.
  • Lead corrective action plans resulting from audits and ensure deviations are addressed to maintain compliance.
Job Requirements
  • Bilingual – Spanish and English (mainly spoken).
  • Experience as a lead or supervisor.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Docs.
  • Preferred: TRUE Advisor (GBCI) certificate and experience supporting TRUE Zero Waste projects (diversion tracking, waste audits, donation logs).

General Schedule And Workdays

Full-time position, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. Available to work on weekends. Wednesday and Thursday off.

Compensation

Pay range for this position: $19–$21 USD per hour. Final pay depends on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, and market data.
