Job summary

The EI Group, Inc. in Morrisville, NC seeks a full-time Sustainability (Environmental) Engineer/Scientist to expand our sustainability practice, manage environmental compliance projects, and support ISO audits for manufacturing clients.

The successful candidate will develop prospects and proposals, execute projects, and contribute to business growth while maintaining strong communication with clients and team members. Travel is required for local and regional engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or science.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
• Understanding of environmental principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and standards and guidelines.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data sets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Travel required: mix of local project work, short overnights (2–3 day) and possibly full weeks on location.

Responsibilities

• Conduct sustainability services, such as ISO audits and waste/resource conservation assessments, and environmental compliance projects.
• Perform project tasks in accordance with environmental rules and approved project plans.
• Grow the business through marketplace participation, conferences, or publishing; scope opportunities and develop proposals.
• Collect field data, observe, document field work.
• Use field equipment properly and in accordance with equipment specifications.
• Prepare technical reports, permit applications, correspondence, and plans.
• Stay up to date with industry regulations and best practices; ensure compliance locally, state-wide, and federally.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with strong document creation, spreadsheet management, and presentation design.
