Coterra is hiring a Sustainability Engineer in Houston, Texas

JOB SUMMARY

As a Sustainability Engineer for Coterra, you will perform a variety of tasks related to the analysis and creation of initiatives related to corporate-wide sustainability goals. You will research emerging sustainability technology and standards and ensure best-in-class performance across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead development of technology and processes to address top issues facing Coterra Energy’s core businesses (methane detection and abatement, produced water strategy and reduction, and power development)

  • Research, catalog, and liaison with operating teams to implement technologies and methodologies related to reducing the impacts of corporate-wide operations (e.g., Emission Reduction, Monitoring Technology, CCUS, RSG, Carbon Credits, Power Generation and Purchase, Water Disposal Alternatives, Spill Reduction, etc.)

  • Develop analytics, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms with high-level data fidelity for monitoring corporate sustainability performance including forecasting corporate-wide emissions and other sustainability metrics profiles used for determining and ranking improvement opportunities, corporate goal setting, and benchmarking

  • Benchmark peer data related to sustainability and perform comparative analysis

  • Assist in the completion of sustainability reporting (e.g., EPA GHGRP, SASB, TCFD, AXPC, API, etc.)

  • Participate in industry groups and develop relationships with industry peers to further the organization’s understanding of the sustainability landscape within the energy sector

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proficiency in business intelligence software (e.g., Excel, Spotfire, etc.)

  • Ability to interact with databases and data lakes including writing custom queries

  • Experience with coding (e.g., R, Python, etc.)

  • Strong technical writing capabilities

  • Ability to perform in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree; in Engineering Discipline (e.g., P.E., M.E., C.E, E.E., etc)

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

  • Years of Experience Range: Must have a minimum of 5-7 years oil & gas experience; preferred 10 years

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND

Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work that includes typing, sitting, and standing. In the event that the incumbent visits operations worksites, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Percent of Travel Required: 15%; Travel may be required for required meetings or training
