Job summary

Impactlabs is seeking a sustainability consultant to support businesses in their journey towards a nature-positive economy. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in Environmental Engineering or Sustainability Management and will help drive change through market studies, sustainability action plans, and reporting. This position offers a full-time permanent contract in a hybrid work environment, emphasizing autonomy and a passion for impact.

Qualifications

  • Solid academic background in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability Management, or related fields.
  • 1-2 years of professional experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of international sustainability agreements and frameworks is appreciated.

  • Conduct market studies focused on sustainability trends and solutions.
  • Develop sustainability action plans and reduction roadmaps.

Mission
Sustainability & Impact for Businesses (60%)
  • Market studies focused on Sustainability trends & available solutions
  • Competition analysis & Benchmarking
  • Materiality analysis and stakeholder engagement (analyse clients business model & supply chain to understand their Impact, risks and opportunities…)
  • Sustainability Action Plans, Roadmaps, Reduction plans, KPIs tailored to businesses based on materiality results and company Vision.
  • Carbon Footprint calculations and reduction roadmaps
  • Life Cycle Assessment support
  • Certifications; Selection, GAP analysis, improvement roadmaps & submission (BCORP; ECOVADIS; CSRD….)
  • Sustainability Reporting and Communications (GRI)
Impact Analytics (20%)
  • Compare proposed solutions and assess their business feasibility
  • Create models to analyse data and information to support decision-making (ie cost/benefit matrix to choose a new material; ie Complexity vs Impact potential)
Business Transformation support (5%)
  • Understand business stakes, and how to drive change in complex organisations
  • Translate Sustainability Strategy into a Business Model transformation plan
Training (10%):
  • Training inhouse and external training to support and build necessary capabilities for roles and responsibilities
What We Are Looking For
  • Solid academic background: Environmental Engineer; Sustainability Management; Innovation; Research for Sustainability; Data Analytics for Business. MSc or PhD directly related or applicable to Sustainable Development for Business;
  • Knowledge of most relevant international agreements & frameworks for Sustainability (IPCC, Paris Agreement, GRI, SBTi’s Corporate Net-Zero Standard…) would be appreciated;
  • Other language(s) relevant for our client portfolio is a plus but not mandatory;
  • 1-2 years of professional experience is preferred for this position but we will positively consider all student or professional activity;
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office / Google Workspace suite, especially Excel / Spreadsheets;
  • Data analysis skills highly appreciated;
  • Based in Lisbon: Highly appreciated: we have a hybrid schedule: two days a week in the office.
