Job summary

BWI Group in Moraine, Ohio, seeks a Technical Sales Engineer — Suspension to bridge customers and our engineering teams, translating vehicle-level requirements into profitable programs.

You will lead RFQ responses, build cost models, negotiate terms, and guide programs from kickoff to launch, with 25–40% travel to customer sites. The role requires a mechanical engineering background and strong communication with OEMs and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 3–7 years of combined experience in automotive sales, applications engineering, program management, or product engineering with customer-facing exposure.
• Working knowledge of automotive chassis or suspension systems and the vehicle development process.
• Demonstrated experience supporting or leading RFQ responses, cost modeling, or commercial negotiations with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
• Familiarity with the automotive supply chain, OEM sourcing practices, and APQP/PPAP/SOP timings.
• Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical and commercial content to senior audiences.
• Valid driver’s license and a valid passport, or the ability to obtain one, for domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end RFQ process, reviewing customer specs and terms and assembling complete quotation packages.
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing to develop cost models covering piece price, tooling, capital, and logistics.
• Work with finance to ensure margins and cash flow meet thresholds and prepare business cases for approvals.
• Negotiate price, tooling, engineering recovery, productivity commitments, and terms within delegated authority.
• Manage engineering changes and cost recovery claims throughout the program lifecycle with customer negotiation.
• Maintain pricing records, customer orders, and contract documentation; ensure alignment across systems.
