Job Description: Sushi Chef – Hai Hospitality (Uchi, Uchiko, Uchiba)

In this role, you will serve as a vital member of our team to enrich the culinary and service experience for our guests. We offer $25-$30 per hour and opportunities to grow within the organization.

What You’ll Do

• Acquaint yourself with our menu, current specials, and Japanese cuisine.
• Learn and perfect your sushi techniques under the guidance of our skilled Chef teams.
• Understand proper handling and waste reduction of product.
• Interact with guests at the sushi bar; take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guest.
• Learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grows.
• Collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of sushi chef experience.
• Effective communication with guests and employees.
• Detect and identify safety issues and comply with safety guidelines and standards.
• Lifting and carrying trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs; stocking inventory and performing restocking duties.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas.
• Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and in a variety of temperatures.
• Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements.
• Use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (ovens, grills, knives).
• Maintain a neat and organized workspace, proper storage of supplies, and clean surfaces.
• Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs.
• Work in close proximity to coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area.
• Tolerate exposure to potential allergens and food odors.
