Hai Hospitality is seeking Sushi Chefs for Uchi Newport Beach on Mariner's Mile. Orientation is planned for late November with a late December 2026 opening. The role offers $21–$25 per hour base plus tips, with average earnings including tips ranging $27–$48/hr.

Hai Hospitality is accepting applications forSushi Chefsfor ourUchi Newport Beach location!

Located on Mariner's Mile (2510 West Coast Highway), orientation is slated to begin end of November with a planned opening in late December 2026!

COMPENSATION: $21 - $25 / hr base pay + tips

Our Sushi Chefs make an average of $27 - $48 / hr with base pay + tips. Tip amounts are estimates based on historical averages and may vary based on shift, day of week, and individual performance

What you'll do in this role:

• Acquaint yourself with our menu, current specials, and Japanese cuisine.
• Learn and perfect your sushi techniques under the guidance of our skilled Chef teams.
• Interact with guests at the sushi bar; take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guest
• Learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grows
• Collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu!

Basic Qualifications

• Must be able to effectively communicate with guests and other employees
• Detect and identify safety issues, and comply with safety guidelines and standards
• Lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs, stock inventory, and perform restocking duties
• Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas and items
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Ability to work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold
• Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements
• Ability to use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, grills, and knives
• Maintain a neat and organized workspace, including proper storage of supplies and cleaning of surfaces
• Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs
• Ability to work in close proximity to coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area
• Tolerate exposure to potential allergens and food odors
• Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance, including proper uniform and personal grooming
