Job summary

The Omakase Restaurant Group is seeking a Server to deliver warm, attentive service at Live Sushi Bar in San Francisco. You will greet guests, explain the menu, and guide them through sushi selections, beverages, and pairings, while collaborating with sushi chefs to ensure timely, well-presented courses.

We value strong communication, guest service, the ability to multitask across several tables, with a focus on food safety and responsible alcohol service.

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous serving experience preferred; experience with Japanese cuisine or sushi is a plus.
• Communication & Guest Service: Strong communication and guest service skills, with the ability to create a warm and welcoming experience for every guest.
• Pace & Multitasking: Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle several tables at once while keeping service smooth and attentive.
• Menu Knowledge: Basic knowledge of sushi, Japanese ingredients, and sake, or a willingness to learn.
• Certifications: Food handler and responsible alcohol service certifications as required by local law.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests promptly and create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Present the menu, explain sushi preparations, fish selections, and daily specials, and make recommendations.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and enter them into the POS system.
• Communicate allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests clearly to the sushi bar and kitchen.
• Serve food and beverages according to presentation and timing standards.
• Serve alcoholic beverages responsibly and check identification as required.
• Check on guests during the meal and resolve concerns quickly and professionally.
• Process payments accurately and handle cash and card transactions.
• Clear, reset, and sanitize tables, and keep the section and service stations stocked.
• Help with opening, closing, and side duties as assigned.
• Follow all health, sanitation, and safety regulations, including safe raw-fish handling standards.
