Job summary

Northrop Grumman in El Segundo, CA, is seeking an Engineer Survivability - Materials. Location is on site with up to 10% travel. The role focuses on advanced materials to enhance survivability of defense systems through chemistry, physics, and materials science.

The candidate will analyze, research, and develop materials and processes to optimize performance in structures and subsystems, collaborating with IPTs and multiple engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 2 years related experience or Master's with 0 years.
• Experience in LO M&P.
• Understanding of materials selection for EM performance.
• Proficient in materials testing methods and lab result interpretation.
• Knowledge of fabrication and application processes for specialty materials.
• Familiarity with military specs and interfacing with military customers.
• Ability to create process specs and technical reports.
• Experience collaborating across disciplines.
• Comfortable working with design, manufacturing, quality, and production teams.
• Active U.S. Government in-scope Secret Clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, research, and develop materials and related processes.
• Investigate material issues and provide solutions for survivability features.
• Ensure integration of survivability features into new designs and existing systems.
