Job summary

Cochran is seeking a Surveying Technician to join our team across Missouri locations. The role focuses on outdoor fieldwork, data collection, and supporting project teams with boundary, topographic, construction, and route surveys.

Responsibilities

• Assist field survey operations and collect accurate field data.
• Support project teams in delivering surveying services.
• Assist Survey Crew Chiefs with boundary, topographic, construction, and route surveys.
• Operate GPS units, total stations, and data collectors.
• Set and recover survey monuments, stakes, and markers.
• Record and maintain field notes and survey data.
• Assist in data processing and verification of measurements.
• Transport, maintain, and care for surveying equipment and vehicles.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Communicate with team members, property owners, contractors, and clients as needed.
• Support office staff with survey-related tasks.

Cochran is looking for a Surveying Technician,in any of their 7 locations (Union, St. Louis, Wentzville, Farmington, Ozark, Osage Beach, and KC) to join our team.

Position Summary:

• This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and are interested in contributing to a variety of land surveying projects. The successful candidate will assist with field survey operations, collect accurate field data, and support project teams in delivering high-quality surveying services.
• Assist Survey Crew Chiefs with boundary, topographic, construction, and route surveys.
• Operate surveying equipment including GPS units, total stations, and data collectors.
• Set and recover survey monuments, stakes, and markers.
• Record and maintain accurate field notes and survey data.
• Assist in the collection and verification of field measurements.
• Transport, maintain, and care for survey equipment and vehicles.
• Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Communicate effectively with team members, property owners, contractors, and clients when necessary.
• Support office staff with survey-related tasks and data processing as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for insurance purposes.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including walking long distances, climbing, lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred

• 2-5 years of land surveying experience.
• Experience using Trimble GPS equipment, Total Stations, and data collectors.
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD or survey-related software.
• Knowledge of surveying principles, terminology, and field procedures.
