IMEG Corporation is seeking a Surveying Intern for a 10–12 week summer program in Walker, MN. You will work with engineers on surveying, site drainage, and grading design, gaining exposure to tribal and public works projects.

You will support field observations, documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration while learning the Civil Engineering trade under experienced mentors. This is a paid internship with potential for future opportunities.

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.

IMEG is hiring a Surveying Intern in Walker, MN. Over 10-12 weeks, you will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, site drainage and grading design, and learning the Civil Engineering trade.

This internship offers hands‑on project experience while supporting project documentation, site observations, and cross‑functional collaboration to help meet project goals and client expectations. You will gain exposure to work across survey, tribal, and public works markets.

What You’ll Do

• Assists with project design work for discipline systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards

• Researches commercially available equipment and supporting resources for project needs

• Supports client communication, project documentation, and permanent record files

• Coordinates design and schedule needs with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment‑supplier partners

• Documents design decisions, meetings, client instructions, and project progress

• Reviews project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check

• Helps prepare and issue addendum information

• Conducts periodic job site observations and performs other services required by the contract services agreement

What You’ll Bring

Education

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required

Required Skills/Abilities

• May be required to assist with field duties like surveying and materials testing

• Strong interest in design consulting

• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM

• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds

• Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull

• Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises

• Survey‑driven civil team across Montana and northern Minnesota with strong tribal and public‑works work

• Tribal infrastructure for Fort Peck, Red Lake, and Crow Tribe including road realignment and transit facilities

• Water system improvements, roadway design, and wetland delineation for county and municipal clients

• Recent work includes Fort Peck Milk River Road Realignment, Transportation; Crow Transit Building, Government; and Havre Water System Improvements, Water/Wastewater.

State of Minnesota Pay Range: $22-24 per hour

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
